Past Events' Highlights

The busy summer term saw a number of insightful and inspiring events at c:o/re:

We hosted several workshops organized by the c:o/re fellows, tackling different aspects of AI and machine learning, networks, open science, responsible research and innovation, anticipatory governance, art's realism in post-truth times, enlightenment and post-humanism. You can read about the highlights here.

You can also read again about the some of the talks in our Lecture Series "Philosophy of AI. Optimist and Pessimist Views", organized by MARKUS PANTSAR and FREDERIK STJERNFELT.

We had the pleasure to welcome as short term fellows at c:o/re two highly accomplished scholars in science and technology studies: Prof. NICO STEHR and Prof. KARIN KNORR CETINA.

Cultures of Research

On our blog our colleague Phillip H. Roths reports about the opening of a new research center for science communication and assistant professor Zoe Hurely at Zayed University, Dubai, contemplates about Feminism and Social Media.

The Importance of Science Communication Research and of Science Studies for the Region – Opening of the RRC in Dortmund
How can science communication be practiced under post-truth conditions? And what role do the humanities and social sciences play in this context?
Digital technology and gender discourse: Cut, paste, repeat…
The digital (re-)mediatization of gender, particularly womanhood, changes not only social representations of but also academic discourses on gender. This technological recontextualization presents both dangers and opportunities.
