Cultures of Research

On our c:o/re blog our colleague Phillip H. Roth reports about the open of a new research center on science communication, and assistant professor at Zayed University, Dubai, Zoe Hurely, contemplates about Feminism and Social Media.

The Importance of Science Communication Research and of Science Studies for the Region – Opening of the RRC in Dortmund
How can science communication be practiced under post-truth conditions? And what role do the humanities and social sciences play in this context?
Digital technology and gender discourse: Cut, paste, repeat…
The digital (re-)mediatization of gender, particularly womanhood, changes not only social representations of but also academic discourses on gender.

Outlook

On September 21st to 22nd, 2022, we will be hosting a Hackathon at our center together with the leading institution on Science Communication in Germany “Wissenschaft im Dialog” (WiD).

Science communication is one of the key-challengs of scientific research, especially in times of post-truth, “alternative facts” and growing mistrust in science. “Unboxing science” is our mission at c:o/re.

If you are interested in participating, please write an email until August 10th to events@khk.rwth-aachen.de.

More information will appear soon on our website.

The c:o/re team wishes all of you a wonderful summer!
