Stefanie is part of the publications team at c:o/re. She studied History and English Linguistics in Paderborn and Berlin. Her research focus on National Socialism and early right-wing movements was influenced by her work as an assistant in museums and memorial sites such as Wewelsburg District Museum, the Jewish Museum Berlin and the Memorial to the Murdered Jews of Europe. Before joining c:o/re at RWTH Aachen University, she worked as a research assistant at Leibniz Institute for Contemporary History Munich-Berlin in a large scale publication project editing primary sources on the Holocaust: “Die Verfolgung und Ermordung der europäischen Juden durch das nationalsozialistische Deutschland 1933-1945” (VEJ).

In her PhD project, Stefanie investigates the emergence of astronomical interpretations in the field of Prehistory in Germany. The project hinges on the observation of a paradigm shift in Prehistoric Archaeology: while the idea of elaborate celestial observations in prehistoric Central and Northern Europe has become a common notion today, “Germanic Astronomy” was dismissed by scholars and scientists of the early 20th century as an intellectual phantasy. Stefanie focuses on the influence that the so-called völkisch movement and its racial ideology had on the public and scholarly discourse in the first half of the 20th century. Thus, her work combines research on the völkisch movement with Historical Studies of Science. The project is associated to the Bielefeld Graduate School in History and Sociology (BGHS) and the chair of Historical Studies of Science at Bielefeld University.
