Welcome to our new fellows!

We are delighted to welcome our new fellows: Elisabeth Röhrlich, Sam Selma Ducourant, Carsten Reinhardt, and Ingo Schulz-Schaeffer who will stay with us until spring 2025.

Furthermore, Ricky Wichum, Carl Mitcham, Gabriel Sandu and Jack Copeland will be with us as Short-Term Fellows during October and November.

Lecture Series

On October 9, 2024, our new Lecture Series “Expanding Science and Technology Studies” starts with a lecture by Stefan Böschen “Towards Expanded STS”. The next lecture by Elisabeth Röhrlich on “An IAEA for AI? The Regulation of Artificial Intelligence and Governance Models from the Nuclear Age” will be on October 30, 2024.

The lectures will take place from October 9, 2024, to January 22, 2025, every second Wednesday from 5 to 6.30 pm in presence and online. The whole program can be found here.

Freedom of Research – A European Summit: Science in Times of Uncertainty

On November 4 and November 5, 2024, we invite you to Aachen for an interdisciplinary summit focused on the crucial role of freedom in scientific, cultural, social, and political contexts.

With a program that includes a late-night event, an all-day symposium, an art exhibition, and a festive evening event, the summit will bring together researchers, policymakers and the public to exchange ideas and develop strategies for strengthening academic freedom and fostering a resilient European community.

The summit is jointly organized by the Charlemagne Prize Foundation and RWTH Aachen University’s Knowledge Hub and Käte Hamburger Kolleg: Cultures of Research (co/re).

RWTH Science Night

On November 8, 2024, the 20th science night “5 to 12” will take place at RWTH Aachen University. The annual event aims to present science and research at the RWTH to the public in different events across the RWTH Campus.

The main hub of these events will be the C.A.R.L. Visit our c:o/re booth on the second floor of the C.A.R.L. in S05 with our theme “Unboxing Science: Experience Knowledge in Art and Society”.

Join us anytime between 7 p.m. and midnight!
